kahl was founded in 2019 by entrepreneur Nathan Thompson and natural skincare specialist Kate Harahan.
After shaving his head for the first time, Nathan was extremely disillusioned with the selection of products available for bald heads. In particular, he found that most shaving products were designed for facial hair, not the head and very little thought was given to the differences and nuances in the skin on the scalp versus the rest of the face. He found the very few products that did exist specifically for bald heads to be of dreadful quality, and their branding to be dated and cheesy, perpetuating the idea that there is an embarrassment in losing your hair.
kahl came about as Nathan set out to scratch his own itch in the most natural way possible, by asking his partner Kate to assist with creating solutions that were easy on the scalp, contained as few ingredients as possible, but also felt and smelt good.
The first products they hit upon was a shaving serum specifically designed for electric head shavers, since they found that foams, gels and lotions were either too slippy or too dense to facilitate a close, clean shave without causing irritation or shaving nicks.
Our kahl neroli bald shaving serum is only the first product in our small, simple, carefully crafted range which will soon include pre-shave and post-shave products containing hydrating botanicals, formulated to facilitate a close shave and leave the skin of your head feeling calm, soft and moisturised all day and night.
Sustainability has been a part of our raison d'etre since day dot, and extends to everything we do.
